How do I get my Sims 2 Game to recognize my Neighborhood files?

My game decided to take two of my custom neighborhoods off the main menu after I got about four houses in each. I’ve tried a lot; making a new Sims 2 File, renaming the files in the neighborhood folder, putting the lots and characters files in other neighborhood folders, etc., but nothing works. I have the files, yet the game does not seem to notice them. Can someone help?
